The Mission vs. The Obstacles: Cultivating Happiness Through Art During Challenging Times
On June 21, 2025, the 45th/47th President of the United States made a seemingly irreparable decision to bomb Iran in support of Israel—an action that appears to be driving us into a war in which we have no true interest. Regardless of political beliefs, this decision was handled carelessly, with diplomacy nowhere in sight. As I scrolled through social media last night, I saw countless Americans expressing fear, anxiety, and uncertainty about an already fragile situation now being further escalated. While the president may believe this will bring peace, those of us capable of rational thought know that this is far from the truth.
So, what now?
Life is an endless journey, and we will get through this. As I witness these events unfold, I draw strength from my ancestors. There are clear parallels between what they endured and what we are now facing. My grandmother, born in 1909 and passing in 2003, lived through the Great Depression, two world wars, the Cold War, segregation, the Civil Rights Movement, and more. Raised and nurtured by her and my mother, I’ve inherited that same resilience—the ability to survive.
And now, more than ever, I believe in the power of creation. As an artist, I find it essential to create and, through that, cultivate happiness. Creating art is how I heal myself, and sharing art is how I help heal others. I’ve been creating for nearly ten years, and Endless Journey has been in operation for eight. This past year brought challenges that made me question whether this business could continue generating income. While it isn’t my primary source of income, it provides meaningful support—and meaning itself. Ultimately, I decided to keep going. Why? Because I need this. And people need this.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the joy my creations bring—whether people buy them for themselves or gift them to someone they love. Sometimes, we forget the deep necessity of art and the many forms it takes. Art is resistance. Art is therapy. Art is love. Art is expression. Art is impact. Art is power. And so, even in these dark times, my art will continue—serving as a beacon of light, wherever and however it can.
To my fellow artists: whatever your medium, I urge you to press on—in ways that are smart, sustainable, and true to your heart. The world needs your creativity. Can you imagine a world without artists? It would be a hopeless one.
When was the last time you experienced art—and how did it help you? Whether it was through music, a scent, fashion, or a visual piece, art heals. As long as you keep creating, there will be those who resonate with your work and support your vision. They’re looking for you.
So… what are you waiting for?
